Tuition, Scheduling & Attendance Policies
Effective September 1, 2026
These policies apply to students enrolled in The Writing Lab Co. during the September–June academic year.

Monthly Tuition
All students are enrolled on a monthly tuition basis from September through June.
Monthly tuition reserves each student’s dedicated weekly lesson time and provides a consistent learning schedule throughout the academic year. Tuition reflects ongoing enrollment in the program rather than payment for a specific number of individual lessons.
As a result, monthly tuition remains consistent regardless of whether a particular month contains four or five regularly scheduled lessons.
Tuition rates vary by program and level of enrollment. Each family will receive their applicable monthly tuition rate separately.
Payment Policy
All families are required to maintain a valid credit card on file through their Teachworks Student Portal.
Monthly tuition will be automatically processed on the 1st of each month using the payment method on file.
By enrolling and maintaining a payment method on file, families authorize The Writing Lab Co. to process recurring monthly tuition in accordance with their enrollment and applicable tuition rate.
If a payment cannot be processed, families will be notified and asked to update their payment information promptly. Lessons may be paused until the outstanding balance has been resolved.
Reserved Weekly Lesson Time
Each student is assigned a dedicated weekly lesson time. This time is reserved exclusively for the student for the duration of their enrollment.
Because monthly tuition reserves both the student’s place in the program and their recurring lesson time, tuition is not calculated on a per-lesson basis.
Requests to permanently change a student’s regular weekly lesson time are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Rescheduling
To ensure fairness for all families and maintain a consistent learning and teaching schedule, each student is eligible for one lesson reschedule per calendar month, subject to availability.
Reschedule requests must be submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson through the Student Portal.
Rescheduled lessons:
-
must be completed within the same calendar month;
-
are subject to available lesson times; and
-
cannot be carried forward into future months.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for rescheduling.
Once a student has used their one monthly reschedule, any additional lessons missed within the same calendar month are not eligible for a makeup lesson, refund, or tuition credit.
Attendance
Regular attendance is strongly encouraged to support consistent academic progress.
Your child’s weekly lesson time is reserved exclusively for them throughout the academic year. Monthly tuition secures your child’s place in the program rather than payment for individual lessons.
For this reason, lessons missed by the student are not eligible for refunds or tuition credits.
The monthly rescheduling accommodation described above remains available when the applicable requirements are met.
Scheduling & Communication
All lesson reschedule requests should be submitted through the Teachworks Student Portal to ensure scheduling requests are processed efficiently and fairly.

Sabrina will continue to oversee all teaching, student progress, curriculum development, and educational planning.
Withdrawal & Program Pause Policy
To ensure consistent scheduling and allow sufficient time to offer lesson spaces to other students, a minimum of one month’s written notice is required for all program withdrawals or pauses.
Notice must be submitted by email and will take effect one month from the date it is received. Tuition will continue during the notice period, and the student’s lesson time will remain reserved until the effective withdrawal or pause date.
Requests made with less than one month’s notice are not eligible for tuition refunds or credits.
Students returning after a program pause will be accommodated based on availability, and their previous lesson time cannot be guaranteed.
Summer Programming
Monthly tuition applies to the academic year from September through June.
Summer programming during July and August is offered separately and is optional. Summer schedules, formats, and tuition may differ from academic-year programming.
Current students will receive priority access to summer registration. Information regarding summer programming will be shared with families each spring.
Planned Instructor Breaks & Program Continuity
At The Writing Lab Co., we believe that great educators are lifelong learners. Ongoing professional development, curriculum design, and real-world experiences contribute to the quality and perspective we bring to our students.
From time to time, planned instructor breaks may occur during the academic year due to professional development, competitions, or other scheduled commitments. Known dates will be published in our academic-year calendar whenever possible, and affected families will be notified in advance.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, this includes select dates when Sabrina will be representing British Columbia and Canada at national and international karate competitions.
When a planned instructor break affects a student’s regular lesson, an appropriate learning arrangement will be provided based on the student’s program and the length of the absence. This may include a guided writing project, structured independent study, targeted practice, or other individualized learning activities.
For longer absences, students may receive a more comprehensive personalized learning project, with completed work incorporated into subsequent instruction where appropriate.
Planned instructor breaks are incorporated into our academic-year program and monthly tuition structure and do not automatically qualify for makeup lessons, refunds, or tuition credits.
Unexpected instructor cancellations are handled separately.
Policy Updates
The Writing Lab Co. may periodically update its policies as programs and services develop. Families will be notified of material changes that affect their enrollment, tuition, scheduling, or participation.
Effective Date
These policies take effect beginning September 1, 2026 and apply to the 2026–2027 academic year and subsequent academic years, unless replaced by an updated policy.
By continuing enrollment after the effective date, families acknowledge and agree to the applicable tuition, scheduling, attendance, payment, and withdrawal policies of The Writing Lab Co.
